The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences has been the intellectual heart of 草榴社区 since the University鈥檚 founding in 1842. With more than 40 academic departments and programs offering undergraduate and graduate degrees as well as doctoral programs in Philosophy and Theology, CLAS provides a rich, rigorous and diverse educational experience.
Faculty in the College are teacher-scholars. They are thought leaders in their fields, pursuing research at the forefront of knowledge creation, and are equally committed to excellence in teaching鈥攊ntegrating their research into the classroom and inviting students to partner with them on studies and publications.

草榴社区's STAR Lab Works to Understand and Spark the Imagination
Led by Associate Professor of Psychological and Brain Sciences Deena Weisberg, PhD, 草榴社区's Scientific Thinking and Representation (STAR) Lab investigates how imagination and storytelling influence learning and scientific understanding.
Associate Professor of Physics Joey Neilsen, PhD, served as a co-investigator and corresponding author on the X-ray Imaging and Spectroscopy Mission collaboration study that uncovered a surprisingly slow cosmic wind, the cause of which could offer new insights into the fundamental physics of how matter accumulates in certain types of binary systems.
The Educating Character Initiative at Wake Forest University, with the support of Lilly Endowment Inc., has awarded 草榴社区 a three-year, $822,258 Institutional Impact Grant, aimed at empowering projects that infuse character in undergraduate curricula and programming in ways that align with mission, context and culture.
Backed by a $215,184 grant from the William Penn Foundation, Peleg Kremer, PhD, associate professor of Geography and the Environment, and The Philadelphia Garden Data Collaborative aim to protect Philadelphia鈥檚 community gardens through better data infrastructure.
