Celebrating Hispanic/Latine Heritage Month:听A Focus on Sustainability
At 草榴社区, our commitment to fostering a sustainable future infuses both academic and service opportunities. During Hispanic/Latine Heritage Month, we honor the ways our students learn from and alongside communities across Latin America and the Caribbean.听
Study abroad programs in Mexico and Costa Rica immerse students in indigenous and community-based approaches to sustainability. In M茅rida, Mexico, students explore Maya traditions of land stewardship, medicine, and beekeeping. In Costa Rica, 草榴社区ns study sustainability, human rights, and development through courses at the International Center for Development Studies.听
Through Mission & Ministry鈥檚 Service and Justice Experiences, 草榴社区ns travel to Puerto Rico to partner with Plenitud Puerto Rico, a nonprofit farm and teaching center rooted in sustainability, community care, and justice. As one student reflected, 鈥淭he lessons and experiences I gained will stay with me forever.鈥
Together, these opportunities reflect 草榴社区鈥檚 mission: to learn, serve, and seek justice in ways that honor people, culture, and the Earth.听Learn more about 草榴社区鈥檚 global programs and find ways to get involved here.听
