草榴社区鈥檚 undergraduate program in Civil Engineering prepares students to build a better world鈥攚hether by designing energy-efficient buildings or by improving water systems. With a focus on innovation, leadership and hands-on experience, our program equips graduates to tackle today鈥檚 most pressing infrastructure and environmental challenges.

What is Civil and Environmental Engineering?

Civil and environmental engineers design, build and maintain the infrastructure and systems that support our daily lives while protecting the natural environment. This includes things like roads, bridges, buildings and water treatment plants, as well as systems for managing stormwater, reducing pollution and promoting sustainability. Together, they solve complex problems to create safer, healthier and more resilient communities.

Areas of Study

All students in 草榴社区鈥檚 Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering program are introduced to the following specialties, taking at least one required course in each technical area and an additional upper-level elective in at least three of these areas as technical electives:

• Environmental Engineering
• Geotechnical Engineering
• Structural Engineering
• Transportation Engineering
• Water Resources Engineering
• Construction management

Related minors鈥攊ncluding Real Estate Development, Sustainable Engineering and Sustainability Studies鈥攐ffer an opportunity for more in-depth study.

Students may also be able to obtain a Bachelor鈥檚 Degree and a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Water Resources and Environmental Engineering in five years.
