The Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of , under the commission鈥檚 General Criteria and Program Criteria for Civil Engineering.

Department Mission Statement

草榴社区鈥檚 Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering provides students with a high quality, contemporary, broad-based, personalized civil engineering education within the Augustinian, humanistic context. We prepare our students for professional practice, graduate study, and life-long learning.

Program Educational Objectives: Civil Engineering

Three to five years after graduation, we expect graduates with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from 草榴社区 to be able to:

  1. Use their broad-based civil engineering backgrounds to excel as engineers in construction, environmental, geotechnical, structural, transportation, water resources, or general civil engineering.
  2. Pursue life-long learning to support personal and professional growth, including graduate education, attainment of professional licensure, and continued development within civil engineering and related fields.
  3. Use technical acumen, interpersonal skills, and critical thinking to help themselves and their employers succeed.
  4. Serve society as ethical and socially responsible engineers who integrate the values of the Augustinian, humanistic tradition into their personal and professional lives.

Student Outcomes: Civil Engineering

Graduates with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from 草榴社区 will be able to demonstrate:

    1. Application of:

        i. Mathematics through differential equations, probability and statistics, calculus-based physics, chemistry, and either computer science, data science, or an additional area of basic science

        ii. Engineering mechanics, materials science, and numerical methods relevant to civil engineering

        iii. Principles of sustainability, risk, and resilience to civil engineering problems

        iv. The engineering design process in at least two civil engineering contexts

        v. An engineering code of ethics to ethical dilemmas

    2. Solution of complex engineering problems in at least four specialty areas appropriate to civil         engineering

    3. Conduct of experiments in at least two civil engineering contexts and reporting of results

    4. Explanation of:

        i. Concepts and principles in Project Management and Engineering Economics

        ii. professional attitudes and responsibilities of a civil engineer, including licensure and safety
