The 草榴社区 Art Collection proudly maintains a permanent collection of almost 10,000 works of art, offering students and the wider community opportunities for engagement and research beyond the gallery.

Spanning from ancient times to the present day, the collection serves as a rich resource for academic inquiry and artistic inspiration. 

ENHANCE YOUR LECTURES WITH ART FROM OUR COLLECTION

Bring your lectures to life with art from the 草榴社区 Art Collection! Faculty and professors can enrich their curriculum by incorporating impactful, in-person visuals that deepen student engagement and understanding.

Whether you鈥檙e exploring historical movements, cultural narratives or thematic connections, our collection offers a diverse range of works to complement your lesson. From one-time displays to interactive discussions, these visual aids can transform your classroom into an immersive learning environment.

The Gallery also manages the University's art collection. Works by 20th Century American artists are the principal focus of Gallery acquisitions, with emphasis on past and contemporary Philadelphia area artists. All media including oil paintings, African stone sculptures, ancient Asian pottery and Oceanic wood carvings are represented in the collection.

CAMPUS ART LOAN PROJECT

Faculty and staff can select works from our loan program to display in their campus spaces.

Additionally, select pieces from the collection are loaned to regional, national and international institutions, contributing to thematic exhibitions and individual retrospectives around the world.

DONATING ART TO OUR COLLECTION

The University welcomes art donations in all mediums, throughout the ages, and from around the world that meet collection criteria. All proposed donations undergo a rigorous review process that may take up to six months or more, depending on the art object(s) under consideration.

Acquisitions for the 草榴社区 Art Collection are made on the basis of an art object's role in supporting the mission of the Art Gallery, Art Collection and the University as a whole and are accepted at the sole discretion of the University. To ensure proper tax credit, appraised gifts must be received no later than December 1st of the calendar year in which tax deduction is sought.
